Alright. A while back I asked for your ideas and... I was trying to figure out how to incorporate my personal favorite one, reviews on each other's work. It isn't easy to ensure this without seeming like some sort of overpowering tyrant. So! I hope this idea works, because it also goes with another idea you guys suggested (in overwhelming amounts), contests.

Now then! I will not be judging this contest. No, in fact, it will be judged by you nice folks. Here's how it works.

Write something. That part is easy (it has to follow the below rules).

This something should be an idea you've wanted to get feedback on for awhile. Maybe you've planned it or maybe it's a spur of the moment thing, we'll accept either. Make it worth the time, be... be proud of your work.

You can submit it via the comments below (linking is fine).

Now. You nice folks will be able to choose who wins. Here's how.

You may vote on each deviation via posting a comment on that deviation with your own personal rating (1-5 stars, 1 being a caveman that somehow learned English and 5 being some phenomenal writer *cough* Terry Pratchett *cough cough*) and a 50 word review of the work and why you honestly believe it deserves the rating. 50 is minimum, mind you, and you may make it as long as you like.

In the end, averages will be found for each deviation (I expect as many of you to vote as possible if you honestly want reviews on your own works) and the winner will be declared based on the highest average. Any comments you create will be seen by myself. Particularly abrasive or brazenly rude comments will result in some form of reprimand (likely disqualification from the contest).

All entries will be advertised here below the rules (for future reference). To submit a review and to get it noticed, simply add the ;iconamateur-writing; text (as it normally would be) and it will be noticed immediately.

Thanks for *possibly* participating!

-No fan-fiction. This must be an ORIGINAL work. This will avoid biased ideas and unoriginal material (hopefully).
-No excessive profanity or ideologically offensive content. I'd like to avoid squabbles and uncomfortable reads.
-Poems must have actual meaning.
-Poems, Songs, etc must be 5 verses minimum (chorus does count towards this)
-1,000 words minimum on stories
-I may update the rules at any time I choose based on new insights or ideas

Deadline is August 26th!
I know a lot of you likely don't care much what some writing group does with its time. However...

For those of you lovelies who DO care...

First off, hello! You get a choice.

This choice is essentially suggesting what you'd like to happen to this community. This is one of the largest (if not the largest) writing community on dA. That said, it is also in a sad state of affairs (it's like a DMV of literature). I'd like to fix that and do things and follow the many opportunities such a large community allows for. However, that requires a bit of help from you kind folks.

So... if you have an idea, comment below. I would honestly like to know what you want to see. This is one of three large communities I run and I do almost nothing for this one, which seems unfair.

Note the group if you're shy about your idea lol~

Alright, I did this out of popular demand. I guess. It's probably much easier to say that I'm tired and need something to do, but popular demand sounds so much cleaner, doesn't it? Whatever. Anyways... as for one of the first images of a halfway decently used journal, let's see one of the best poets I've had the opportunity of seeing and talking with. Cheers~

SO! JCSolis01 was the obvious choice for this; the guy is a great poet who writes other stuff (I think I saw a Pokémon story or something. Anyways.

What caught my eye was this poem here:

"Remember Me By". Even the title just shouts exactly what you want to see in an emotional poem. I saw this and sort of fell in love with the work, and while nothing has really matched this yet for me, it's still quite... wonderful. Poetry is, by many standards, a sort of window into a person's mind; you can see what they're thinking, what worries them, what they love and what they hate.

I encourage you all to check this guy out, even if it's just to decide whether or not he sticks. He's a great guy (based on the couple of conversations I've had with him over the months) and... yeah, I have nothing to support this "and" statement, so watch me fumble and fall!

Anyhow. Hope this is what you guys meant by "Artist Features". If not, feel free to yell at me with some very stern and probably capital letters in the comments.

Cheers, lads.

Why hello there! You might remember me from the journal originally made by Kero (who should not have written stories in the journals). I am the co-owner of the group who has been running it pretty well (I hope) recently. However, more recently, the original owner (Montalve) has granted me enough powers to successfully run the group to an active point.

SO! I'm here to stay and I'll be trying to rejuvenate this group much like I did with my bigger group, DA-Gamers. So, before I do anything else, let me just ask a simple question.

What do you want to see in the group? Writing competitions, perhaps? Roleplay of some sort (not a huge fan, but hey, most of what cycles through is bloody fan fic, so...)

Any ideas would be appreciated. Comment below or note the group or whatever with your ideas ^_^
Hello folks, I'm a new Co-founder here and I just thought I should pop in to tell you how I'm going to fix this group up, hmm? I've done this before (see: DA-Gamers) successfully, and I daresay this group is worse than the last one, as far as current shape goes. Right.

Things to avoid if you'd like to stay in the group...
:bulletred: Advertising in our comments
:bulletred: Disrespecting owners
:bulletred: Breaking current standing rules (such as submitting stories as Journals)
:bulletred: Avoiding the usage of common sense

If there are any questions, please, feel free to ask, I will answer via comment on THIS journal. I'm gonna make the group... better.

Why is my literature waiting approval??
XeruFury Featured By Owner Jul 27, 2016  Hobbyist Writer
Because I was away for a while and it has built up. I apologize for the delay.
Gallerica Featured By Owner Jul 28, 2016  Hobbyist General Artist
It's okay.

Hello, thanks for accepting me. I have a question before I start submitting my writing. What is this group's definition of mature? Anything that requires the dA's mature filter or is it a bit more flexible? My characters swear sometimes and can get in sexual situations but it never gets explicit and the choice of swear words are ones that float around any college campus not the super offensive ones. Seems a bit silly to put that in a mature folder but I thought I'd ask just to be safe.
XeruFury Featured By Owner Jul 26, 2016  Hobbyist Writer
If it falls under dA's filters, then it goes to the mature folder. Light swearing and flirtatious writing generally is allowed by because... as you said, placing rather stereotypical fanfiction in with a noir piece of an alcoholic and foul-mouthed detective seems excessive. Cheers~

Thank you for this clarification.

No problem~

Thank you for accepting me! I just have one question. Can we submit fanfiction, or is it original fiction only? I don't want to mistakenly submit fanfiction if it's not allowed. Sweating a little...

Fan fiction is allowed~

Hey, I'm a longtime writer who's just recently gotten into professional editing- what would the etiquette be for offering my services to the group?
XeruFury Featured By Owner Jun 2, 2016  Hobbyist Writer
Submitting any guides you may feel should be seen by the general community; we do not endorse advertising beyond that which you are willing to create and submit. If they like it, they will find you. If they don't, they will not.

To the group, however? I do not understand what you mean; the group itself does not require an editor, if that is your proposal, nor can it afford one. If you mean the members, then once again see the above statement- you submit and that is your advertisement for your services. We do not accept blatant advertising; rather, create a simple writing guide or something along those lines and add links to further info. If people do indeed like what you have to say, they'll follow the beaten path you lay out.

Probably, anyways. That might not make sense. Sorry, it's nearly 2 AM here. Very good chance that I'm prattling like a madman.

why was my posy Kandar Ep25 declined? what did i do wrong?
XeruFury Featured By Owner May 30, 2016  Hobbyist Writer
Perhaps it would have been better to say this on the submission process so that I could see it and try to remember why it was declined.

As is, I can only tell you the normal reasons.
:bulletblack: Submitted to the wrong folder
:bulletblack: Folder was full
:bulletblack: Lacking quality standards

Those are the three most common. Again, showing me the process would have made it much easier.
DarkMoonWolf70 Featured By Owner Jun 1, 2016  Hobbyist Writer
then with so many declined would in not but good to let people know why?
XeruFury Featured By Owner Jun 1, 2016  Hobbyist Writer
I run three *pretty* big groups and intend to use my time with other things as well. I'm sorry, but the time cannot be spent, and as far as I can tell this is still better than how the group was run before. My apologies regardless, as it really is rather sad, but there's very little I can actually do.
