There was something so god damn haunting about the place even though he'd spent most of his teenage years hanging around here. But how could it not send shivers down his spine? Lee could still remember every detail from that day:
He remembered that they were just sitting next to each other, and he himself was trying so hard to contain a smile, and how Harley had affectionately ruffled his hair when he finally got flustered and couldn't think of a comeback to their little, stupid arguments. Hell, Lee could even remember just how Harley had laughed in that next moment. He never thought he'd miss getting laughed at, really. Lee used to always kind of detest how Harley could get the best of him no matter how hard he tried – well, detest it in a loving sort of way… if that made any sense.
Lee sighed, finally walking down the alley where they used to meet. It was masochistic of him, he realized, to even think to walk into the darkened place where Harley had been shot d

"You know, I've heard butterflies can sense fear. They'll fly right by you if you're scared but they won't land on you…" she trailed off, looking back over her shoulder at the man she'd brought out here. There were only a few days of the year where the monarch butterflies would pass through their area, and Angel just had a feeling Ryan would love it… but he hadn't said a word. Not one. It was beginning to unnerve her really. She was beginning to grow scared – that was why she'd mentioned fear. Why wasn't he speaking?
        Did she do something wrong?
Angel sighed, wringing her hands together as if that would quell the anxiety building up at the pit of her stomach. Ryan was soft-spoken, but he was far from mute. Something just had to be wrong… but she didn't want to ask. "Cynical lil' Angel" – that was what al

The Dog Mosaic: Part Five
A small whine erupted from my maw as another snowflake hit my nose. Trapped, cold, and alone, not one more of my siblings remained in the box that we'd been left in this morning. Mother had assured me before she left, "You will get a new home."
But I didn't want a new home. I wanted my home. I wanted my mom's golden fur, warm milk, and loving caress. I wanted her human to pick me up and hold me cradled in her arms like I was the most precious thing she'd ever seen. I wanted my small, curled tail to wag in joy at the warmth of love.
But the cold stinging of winter winds and thickening snow brought reality crashing down on me like an anvil. I was stuck in this box, too small to crawl my way out, and not strong enough to survive the night that would soon turn into a blizzard.
"I don't want to die," I yipped helplessly. The noise was small, almost mouse-like… unnoticeable during the dead of night. I was alone.
I cried.
And then, seemingly out of the

The Dog Mosaic: Part Four
Over the course of all time, man has given dog both the roll of good and evil, some dogs representing heavenly things, and others representing hellish nightmares –for example, take the mythological canines Qitmir and Barghest. These two dogs are from completely different sides of the globe, one being the Saluki, whose origins are from the Middle East, and the other, a Mastiff, which was first bread in northern Europe.
Qitmir is the traditional name for the dog that appears in the Islamic version of "The Seven Sleepers." This Saluki protected the humans inside a cave for over three hundred years, and then supposedly ascended with the people to paradise.
Barghest is quite the opposite, and appears in many forms in European culture. Sometimes, Barghest is simply known as "The Black Dog," but the idea that it brings misfortune of some kind is always present in each culture. You may recognize this symbolism of bad luck from the famous book, Harry Potter

The Dog Mosaic: Part Three
He was a stray dog: a loner. No pack, no home, and no human to feed him. He was almost limitless: not bound to the rules of human beings, and yet beaten down by them because of their superiority complex. This stray, he was the closest thing to wild roaming the alleyways… but even he couldn't truly be free with those egotistical monkeys running the joint. Down the streets he trotted, his confidence showing through his proud stride and what would be a raised tail if it weren't reduced to a stump from his harsh life out here.
Tap, tap, tap…
The footsteps echoed into the abyss of the night as the speckled black, brown, and silver canine made his way into the heart of the town's residential area. His overgrown nails clicked against the cement in a continuous beat, but even so, the sound was so soft, not many creatures would catch it… and surely… surely not human beings. They were blissfully unaware of the world around them, so lost to na

The Dog Mosaic: Part Two
There is an art to nicknaming your pets, but no family is quite as ridiculous as my own. When it comes to human nicknames, the ideas my family comes up with —well, mainly my sister— are terrifying enough. I mean, I grew up with incoherent gibberish as nicknames.
How many people can claim that their childhood name was "Skimskoimskinim?"
Regardless, with names like that running rampant in my family, you can only imagine the tortures my pets got. My first dog, Lady, her names varied from Lay, to Matzo Ball, to Beemp. What a Beemp is… well don't look at me, though I am the one that thought of it.
But the first dog was only a test run. It was the second dog in the family that got the real plague of nicknames from my crazed family… and we often wonder how we get the oddly more insane than usual dogs. I honestly think it reflects the humans, not the dog.
It was only a few short years ago when we got Eddy… and from the moment we first lay our eyes on

The Dog Mosaic: Part One
October 31st, a day many children look forward to for one obvious reason… candy! The infamous song runs through my head when I remember that day, "Trick-or-treat, smell my feet, give me something good to eat—" all that fun stuff…. But I was a weird little kid. I never did like the artificially flavored rocks that other kids obsessed over merely for their sugar content.
        I liked meat.
I was a carnivore at that age; I remember clearly, that when my mother would feed me her signature soup, I wouldn't eat it if there were not a piece of chicken in the spoonful. Truthfully, I think I was a meat-obsessed five-year-old mostly because I wanted to be a dog. Yes, be a dog. Of course, I'd beg for a canine friend as a pet too —since the age of two I'd been begging to be precise— but even before I was able t

Lee wasn't in the best mood today. Then again, since coming back to high school, he'd been having more emotional breakdowns than a girl on their period. Everything about the damn place practically made him want to rip out his hair. In his year off, he had grown used to some semblance of peace, away from the hierarchies and bullies. But he had decided to go back and get his diploma.
I should have dropped out, he thought for the umpteenth time. I should have stayed away. I learned my lesson about these kids. They're relentless. They're horrible people... But his mind also reminded him that by giving up, he would have let them win. And that was the last thing he wanted. He'd endure the suffering again and again if it meant proving to these assholes that he was better than them. Because he was. He was...
Lee stopped at the crosswalk, eyes straying to the road ahead of him as he continued to be lost in his world of thoughts. The truth was, even after all this time, even after

Two Moons
"Whoever can moon more people without getting the shit beaten out of them wins! Go!"
Looking back on it now, Lee couldn't believe he'd been dumb enough to think that a challenge like this would be worth trying out. It was one thing to show his ass off to Harley, another on stage when he felt like parading around like a complete and total whore, but to her of all people? Of course he'd get the crap beat out of him on the first go round....
The man in question muttered curses to himself as he opened the door to his apartment and slammed it shut behind him. Harley was waiting around on the couch, flipping through channels on the television, and holding a half empty bottle of beer in his hand, not even bothering to glance up just yet. Lee walked up to him, a scowl on his face, "Give me that." He swiped the drink off the taller man and immediately chugged it down.
"Wow… you look like hell," Harley commented at last, eyebrows raised in question. There was a nice, pr

He could hear her shift in her sleep from across the room. It was quiet enough to hear a pin drop, in fact, but to Lee, those tiny distressed motions sounded like thunder in his ears. He frowned; it was unbearably hard to get a rest these days. No… not with what they'd been through together. Everything seemed to have ended in tragedy for Brooke, even after it was all over. Lee had been surprised when she suddenly chose him over Jay upon his return from their final battle, but as proud as he was of her for finally letting him go, she still seemed so…
Yeah, that was the right word. Broken…
Lee felt a stab at his heart when he realized that, Why do I love things out of my reach? A long dead man and a shattered woman right here beside me?  With something of a sigh, he turned onto his back, opened his eyes, and stared up at the ceiling. He could hardly make out a detail around him – it was just too dark in the room – but in his mind's eye he could

Phonecall - Oneshot
It was cold tonight, and with each gust of wind outside, a bit of a draft would come through the house. It wasn't too horrible, really, but it still made Lee's skin crawl, and he shivered violently as he turned to his side and curled into a tight ball. He needed to get into the habit of sleeping in something other than just his boxers. However, over the years, Lee had grown accustom to being warm in the absence of most clothing. Then again, on any normal day before this, Lee wouldn't be sleeping alone:
"Hey…" a muffled voice called, followed by a cackle.
Lee smiled a little at the lightness in his tone, "Yeah, I bet!"

Welcome Home
He was so fucking tired.
So fucking tired of his blabbering mouth.
Did that son of his ever shut up?
Drew wasn't entirely sure how to answer the questions Lee was throwing at him for maybe the hundredth time already today. Why this, why that?
Shut up already, he wanted to say, but all the older man could do was stare blankly at his raging son's face.
"Drew are you even fucking listening? Drew!" He looked back down at the floor, idly reaching for a his bottle of beer only to find that it had been placed just out of his reach, "Dad!"
And that one got to him. Lee hadn't actually called him a father in years now. He supposed he deserved it with the way he'd treated the poor kid. But just looking at his son now was like a stab to his already broken heart. He had her eyes. Angel's eyes. And her heart. Lee himself… his son's very existence was a painful reminder of his loss. Their loss. But Drew had become too much of an empty shell to recognize much more than

The Struggle
Her body was begging for her to stop moving and succumb to sleep… to just keel over in the tempest, curl up, and let exhaustion finally, finally win. Brooke knew better than to do that though. Besides, she was no quitter - never had been and never would be.
Damn though… the cuts and lacerations stung.
Pure willpower was the only thing keeping her moving against the churning wind and rain at this point. Each gust was like a knife to her already wounded body, but Brooke grit her teeth and pressed on. As much of a difficulty it was to navigate around the darkened alleys while in such excruciating pain, the storm was a perfect cover up for the trail of crimson she was leaving in her wake. It made the worst situation she could think of a whole lot less likely to happen. No damn hunters could come pick her off by the scent of fresh blood.
That didn’t make things any safer though… the clock was ticking with every step she made. With each stride she cou

Inevitable beauty
The fingers on my hands grow numb
I can’t avoid it; my time has come
This inevitable journey toward the light
Oh do I wish it were out of sight
I’ve pulled the levers, turned the knobs
But nothing helps, not even my sobs
The world turns upside down; I can see the end
As if it were a common clothing trend
Knowing my fate I grab my wallet
Looking inside I find my beautiful Scarlet
Her smile warps and twists me, no regrets
My heart is going to burst through the beauty of the sunset
Despite how tragic everything is, I can’t help but laugh
My life has been cut in half
My body lifts from the seat, I hover smiling inside
I see the blue earth; I close my eyes and let out my last sigh
All at once everything is still; time has stopped
I am a suicidal raindrop
I hear something, someone whispering to me
‘Open your eyes, and see the beauty’

The Wolf Pack~Chapter 1
The Wolf Pack
Rachel woke to the sound of the rain, softly pattering on her window. She lay there for a while, listening to the droplets quietly crash onto her window, their tiny splashes illuminating her room with pearly light. She suddenly remembered what was so important about today; first day of college. With a small sigh she pulled back the blankets, and crawled out of bed, one paw at a time. She stood by the side of the bed, as she has suddenly forgotten what she was doing. After a slow minute, she remembered; she had to get ready, changed, breakfast, brush her teeth, and so on and so forth. She walked into the bathroom on four paws, but when she arrived by the mirror, she saw she was back to her normal self. "I'm getting better at that, thank god. It'd be so embarrassing to walk into school with my tail and ears showing" She told the mirror. She didn't say it aloud, not even to the quiet, empty house, but she was glad she had mastered changing from wolf to human form, all she ha

I know a lot of you likely don't care much what some writing group does with its time. However...

For those of you lovelies who DO care...

First off, hello! You get a choice.

This choice is essentially suggesting what you'd like to happen to this community. This is one of the largest (if not the largest) writing community on dA. That said, it is also in a sad state of affairs (it's like a DMV of literature). I'd like to fix that and do things and follow the many opportunities such a large community allows for. However, that requires a bit of help from you kind folks.

So... if you have an idea, comment below. I would honestly like to know what you want to see. This is one of three large communities I run and I do almost nothing for this one, which seems unfair.

Note the group if you're shy about your idea lol~

Alright, I did this out of popular demand. I guess. It's probably much easier to say that I'm tired and need something to do, but popular demand sounds so much cleaner, doesn't it? Whatever. Anyways... as for one of the first images of a halfway decently used journal, let's see one of the best poets I've had the opportunity of seeing and talking with. Cheers~

SO! JCSolis01 was the obvious choice for this; the guy is a great poet who writes other stuff (I think I saw a Pokémon story or something. Anyways.

What caught my eye was this poem here:

"Remember Me By". Even the title just shouts exactly what you want to see in an emotional poem. I saw this and sort of fell in love with the work, and while nothing has really matched this yet for me, it's still quite... wonderful. Poetry is, by many standards, a sort of window into a person's mind; you can see what they're thinking, what worries them, what they love and what they hate.

I encourage you all to check this guy out, even if it's just to decide whether or not he sticks. He's a great guy (based on the couple of conversations I've had with him over the months) and... yeah, I have nothing to support this "and" statement, so watch me fumble and fall!

Anyhow. Hope this is what you guys meant by "Artist Features". If not, feel free to yell at me with some very stern and probably capital letters in the comments.

Cheers, lads.

Why hello there! You might remember me from the journal originally made by Kero (who should not have written stories in the journals). I am the co-owner of the group who has been running it pretty well (I hope) recently. However, more recently, the original owner (Montalve) has granted me enough powers to successfully run the group to an active point.

SO! I'm here to stay and I'll be trying to rejuvenate this group much like I did with my bigger group, DA-Gamers. So, before I do anything else, let me just ask a simple question.

What do you want to see in the group? Writing competitions, perhaps? Roleplay of some sort (not a huge fan, but hey, most of what cycles through is bloody fan fic, so...)

Any ideas would be appreciated. Comment below or note the group or whatever with your ideas ^_^
Hello folks, I'm a new Co-founder here and I just thought I should pop in to tell you how I'm going to fix this group up, hmm? I've done this before (see: DA-Gamers) successfully, and I daresay this group is worse than the last one, as far as current shape goes. Right.

Things to avoid if you'd like to stay in the group...
:bulletred: Advertising in our comments
:bulletred: Disrespecting owners
:bulletred: Breaking current standing rules (such as submitting stories as Journals)
:bulletred: Avoiding the usage of common sense

If there are any questions, please, feel free to ask, I will answer via comment on THIS journal. I'm gonna make the group... better.

Thanks for letting me knmow, sorry for taking so long in fixing the situation with Full Stories (short stories had been fixed for a while)

Considering the folders are full, they are closed and a new one with the name of either "Full Stories 2" and "Short Stories 2" have been created so the stories have a new place.

Have fun and happy writing.

Need a little help, if I want to write a true story, (finding a kitten and saving it) in first person, as the kitten, acting like it was the kitten telling the story, but I don't know exactly what happened to the kitten, so it's not autobiography, it's autobiography made up, kind of. What genre would it be? I can't seem to think of it.

I am a kitten. I got attacked by dogs. This and that happened (I dont know for sure what happened). someone shot me, I lived, my family died (I know that all happened)

I would call it a first person fiction to be honest. Kinda like the Warriors series. I would say it is still fiction because you do not know what the cat is actually thinking therefore even if what happened is all based on reality you can only apply human ideals and thoughts to the cats thoughts. unless you have a really cool machine that lets you read an animals thoughts. Any way that is what I would label it as.

Hey everyone me and my friend are writing a original story called Khaos Wars. We have posted three parts on DA so far and we were hoping some of you could read it and become beta readers. This is the first story we have ever written so hope you like it. :) (Smile)

"Summary of the stoty: One random schoolday Koizumi Aika is approached by the class president Moriyama Emiko who is adored by everyone... except Aika. Unfortunately ignoring Emiko's warnings will cost everyone dearly. Nothing could have prepared Aika for what the cruel hand of fate had in stock for her.
Should you listen to your heart, or follow your pre-determined path? What is really worth fighting for? And who will be the last ones standing in a world on fire?
A story about love, war, chaos, betrayal and leaning to understand one another despite of our differences."
